Our Story

In the later Years of High school (2016 - 2018) I was involved with the work experience programme at my high schools.
Through this I was able to experience all the arias of work I was considering entering into once I graduated.
I was privileged enough to acquire work experience in a little barber shop. this is what led me to fall in love with what was possible to do with Hair.
In 2018 I started my certificate II in Salon assistance as I have always had a passion for creativity and hair became the outlet for my Creativity.
I was so inspired by what I was learning throughout that year.
In 2019 I applied for an apprenticeship to do my Certificate III In Hairdressing.
I absolutely loved learning and growing throughout my time being an apprentice.
Early 2021 I finished my TAFE portion of my certificate III in hairdressing and following this I continued my job in a salon that I thought, was going to lead me to where I wanted to go as a hairdresser. Unfortunately, I was let go from this job mid-2021 and, though bitter-sweet, was signed off as a fully qualified hairdresser.
Following this I took some time to collect my thoughts and feelings on where I was going and if where I was going was where I wanted to be. I eventually started applying for positions in salons and was given the opportunity to work in a salon, but this time as a fully qualified hairdresser.
As exciting as this was, it just wasn’t meant to be.
This departure gave me the push I needed to realise that hairdressing alone was not where I wanted to be, in fact,
I had a greater passion and skill for hair styling and makeup.
So I invested in myself and undertook an online makeup course.
I have always been complemented on my hair and makeup skills even as a child.
I feel that Hair and Makeup is not only my passion, but also my calling.
This is what led me to creating Lilac Hair and Makeup.
I now want to apply those skills to others so they can feel confident and empowered by enhancing there natural beauty.
Lilacs, as you are probably aware, are flowers and their various colours hold a variety of meanings. These include happiness, tranquillity, love and passion, all of which I strongly feel while working with both hair and makeup. The purple colour of Lilac itself, most importantly, symbolises first love which for me, is being creative with hair and makeup.as this was the first job that I fell in love with. This is why I believe that Lilac is not only a fitting name, but also a fitting representation of the characteristics that I want Lilac to have as it’s foundation.
